Using our two cableways, you can reach the yawning heights of the Latsch-Martell holiday region. With the cable railway on the Sonnenberg you can reach the mountain farming community of St. Martin im Kofel (1740m), boasting a multitude of panoramic, high-altitude paths and fascinating views over the glacier world of the Ortler Gruppe mountain range.
St. Martin im Kofel 1,740 m
With its 120 inhabitants and the pilgrimage church “Zum Heiligen Martin”, St. Martin im Kofel counts among the most spectacular beauty spots of South Tyrol. The church was presumably erected over a heathen cave shrine. The present building in which the cave is incorporated dates back to the 16th century. Especially the farmers used to go on pilgrimage to this ancient place to pray for their cattle. St. Martin im Kofel, nestled in the fascinating Sonnenberg is an ideal starting point; for easy hikes to the small mountain inns (Jausenstationen), but "mountaineering fanatics" also get their fill. A secret tip is the panoramic high-altitude path from St. Martin to Schlanders. On this path you encounter the steep mountain farms "Egg" and "Forra" and those who do not already know them only have an incomplete impression of the Sonnenberg and thus of the whole Vinschgau Valley. The depth and expanse of this landscape, the infinite light, is an experience and this sun-filled path is even passable in winter.
